What to Look for in a Stroller
Are you wondering what to look for in a stroller? Before you fork over lots of cash, read this article containing tips, ideas, and things that you may not have considered yet.
Many years ago, buying a baby carriage was a simple affair. As the world grew more complex carriages began to evolve with it. Today’s carriages feature numerous options, designs, features, and lots of other stuff that your parents probably didn’t even imagine when they had you. So, how do you sort through all of the contraptions and gizmos to find the right one? Well, to start, know what to look for in a stroller before you walk into that retail store.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the world of carriages you really do get what you pay for. If you want a carriage that can traverse rough terrain while you run along those dusty trails, you can expect to pay around $800 - $1000. If you want a basic carriage that is easy to fold and maneuver, you can expect to pay around $300 - $400. Anything less than this amount will place you in the category of carriages that can be pushed down a sidewalk at a slow pace, but can’t do anything else. To begin, look at the safety features that each carriage includes.
Since your child should be your biggest concern, make sure that your carriage of choice is stable, comfortable, and safe. The best way to keep your child safe is to find a carriage that includes a five point harness. This way, your child cannot slip out of the carriage when they get older (children are very good at doing this!). Also, make sure that the carriage can stay upright should you hang a bag on the handles (some of them will tip). Then, walk with some of the carriage through a store before buying – can you reach the handles with ease? If not, look for one with adjustable handles... you don’t want to be straining while walking or running. Now that you know what to look for in a stroller, there is just one more thing to consider: weight.
Try and find a carriage that is lightweight. Thanks to modern materials, you can really find a lot of carriages that can be easily lifted and stored. While heavier ones are alright for the occasional mall trip, they will not suffice if you get in and out of the car a lot.
If you keep the things listed in this article in mind, you’ll know what to look for in a stroller every time you see one that you like. Take your time to find the right one for you, and remember that you truly will get what you pay for.
