Cons of Using Baby Backpacks

Even though most packs are fantastic, there are some cons of using baby backpacks. Below, you will find the number one thing that parents complain about when it comes to placing their kids in a pack.

While most packs can hold children up to 28 pounds, you will be the one that has to bear that weight...and this can be really tough for your body to take. Even if you are a superb physical specimen, you will find that lugging around a child day in and day out places a lot of strain on your neck, shoulders, and back. There are some companies that have designed ergo packs for this very reason, though these are often uncomfortable for your child. So, what’s a parent to do? Well, you will have to weigh the pros and the cons of using baby backpacks.

For the most part, these packs are great if you only want to use them for a short while. However, if you are planning a trip that will take a few hours, you may want to hit the gym before going...or, ask your partner to take half of the burden by switching now and then. Additionally, a lot of these packs don’t have a place to store other things that you may need to carry, which renders them relatively useless. On the positive side of things, once you have your child placed in a pack, you will have the ability to use your hands when you need them, and this is priceless.

Most parents use a pack when they are going on a long trip, though they tend to use a comfortable sling the rest of the time. This way, you can place pressure upon different parts of your body at different times. While the cons of using baby backpacks are obvious, most parents find that they do not outweigh the positive aspects of this carrying system.

Try on a few packs for yourself, decide which one will work best for you, and make sure to read consumer reviews before buying any one. In the end, you may decide that having a stroller, pack, and sling is the only way to go.

As you can tell, the cons of using baby backpacks are really not enough to stop using this type of carrier. However, you should look for one that will not hurt your back, which may be slightly difficult.
