Baby Head Gear

When it comes to baby head gear, some parents have different opinions than others. Before we discuss the importance of protecting your child’s head, let’s define the term properly.

The term “baby head gear” does not refer to any kind of hair piece (bow, ribbon, headband) that can be put upon a girl’s head. Instead, this term refers to (in this article) helmets that can be worn by infants. Now, some overly protective parents tend to place these things upon their child’s head every day, but this is not necessary. Unless a doctor has told you to do so, your child will be perfectly fine on a day to day basis if you monitor them closely.

However, if you plan to travel with your child on a bicycle or motorcycle, it is important to place some type of protective helmet on them. Even if you carry your child in a side car while you are biking, your child can be harmed if you happen to get into an accident. While many parents would like to think that nothing will happen to their child while they are around, this is not necessarily true. That said, you should also know that helmets made for infants are not the same as those that have been made for toddlers.

Since infants have particularly soft heads, baby head gear has been formed to cushion all sides of their skull. A great infant helmet should include protection on all sides of the skull, just in case of an accident. Also, these helmets are a lot smaller than toddler helmets, which is why you should never assume that a loose fitting helmet will be a good replacement. Bring your child to a bicycle store, have them fitted for a proper helmet, and don’t take a chance when it comes to your child’s life.

There are lots of things on the road that can cause an accident while you are out cycling. Since infants are usually carried in a buggy following a bicycle, they can easily be in harm’s way. While you should always do your best to protect your child, sometimes the best course of action is to think preventatively.

You can find baby head gear at any bicycle shop, or you can order yours online (just make sure that you measure your child’s skull first). Remember, you can only do so much to protect your child, allow a safety helmet to do the rest.
